Mayday! Mayday! Failboat sets sail once more...

London's leading get-together for entrepreneurs only. Following an incredible first event and fantastic subsequent feedback I'm thrilled to announce (some of) the line-up for the 2nd sailing of London's Failboat, and open invitations to take the first presenter spot!

7:00pm - Arrive, grab a beer, have a mingle.

7:15pm - Lukas Fittl: How we allowed sales, fundraising and M&A to derail our startup, despite knowing better. After 18 months we open-sourced the technology behind Efficient Cloud. This is a post-mortem on what went wrong.

7:45pm - Dan Hill & me: How and why we failed to become Airbnb. At the point of acquisition, Crashpadder was a tiny fraction of the size of Airbnb despite founding at a similar time. We're going to do our best to explain why.

//BREAK - pizza and beers. //

Keynote

8:45pm - William Reeve, founder of LOVEFiLM & now on the board of numerous companies including Graze.com, Oxalyst, Paddy Power, Secret Escapes, and Zoopla. William will be talking about how LOVEFiLM, despite a $300m exit to Amazon, failed to put smiles on the faces of its founders, management or investors. I can't wait!

    Absolutely brilliant. We don't talk about failure enough, and this is the perfect way to understand the questions you didn't know you needed to ask.

    ok fair enough, :) I ws hoping to come but it was all full, maybe next time..

    Sorry Gargi but what's said on Failboat, stays on Failboat; it would kind of negate the 'no press' rule if we broadcast it!

    Definately time we celebrated failure.

    I haven't heard of a successful company that never failed, never changed its course. Just like nobody expects to go through a whole computer game without challenges, nobody starts a successful company without smaller of bigger failures. Great idea to get people together to talk about failures and try to learn from them.

    A great reminder of lessons learned. A great event and enjoyed it so much.

    There's no shortage of stories about success, but I find it's the stories about failure where we really learn lessons. Looking back at my own experience, it's too often been the case where I haven't taken the time to think about what actually went wrong and what I would do differently.

    Stephen, another great event, even when you know about pitfalls it is important to hear others talk about them in context to their business, because guess what,even if we know better but we still make mistakes so its a great reminder.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
