Meetup Changes..

Hey Everyone,

I've received a number of complaints over the last few months that we are now ready to address at the Meetups.

Some of the complaints have been:

Level of play has declined
Some players are lethargic and not moving (aka sluggish, deficient in alertness or activity)
Players have not been playing safe volleyball (crossing the line at the net, kicking the ball too often, aggressive or out-of- position players)
Players taking up a spot and then only showing up for an hour
Stagnant skill level of some players

Sorry about this. This is a paid Meetup and people attending that pay $10 are expecting a certain level of play.

In order to facilitate some changes to the group, I've changed some of the roles that the organizers play. There are now just five organizers: Me, James, Karen, Laura, and John Tran.

Because we hope to have a higher level of play on Saturdays and Sundays, the organizers will now be working as a team to identify and remedy the above complaints. Starting this weekend, we will be monitoring everyone's level of play and making assessments. We'll do our best to be fair and give people the opportunity to improve via our recommendations. Our assessments will be sent via email after the organizers agree that it is appropriate.

If you receive an assessment email, please reply to it acknowledging receipt so we know you are receiving emails from Meetup.com. (We don't have personal emails available.) Please don't take these personally. We want to work with everyone to get them up to a higher level if possible. The assessment will describe some things we feel you should work on improving and some suggestions on where to do so. If after a certain amount of time has passed and no improvement is shown, we may ask some players not to return until this is remedied. Occasionally a new player will show up for the first time and are B or less in skill level. There is not much we can do during that Meetup, but we will address them as they occur. Those that are not close to the BB skill level will be asked not to return until they have taken a few clinics or have improved on their own.

We are willing to work with everyone on their skills. Please use the time at the gym before and between games to practice your skills with someone. Please just approach me or another organizer and we would be happy to pass on our knowledge. If we can't help we will reach out to some of the best players for advice/help.

If you can't play the majority of the time, please try and share your spot (split the cost with someone). There are a lot of people that would like to play for an hour or hour and a half at the end of the Meetup. Please use the message board and try to share a spot with someone if you plan on leaving early or showing up late. If you are willing to share a spot, put a note on your wait-list RSVP so people know to contact you.

Thanks for understanding,

Duane
