"Summertime Brews" Beer Festival, hosted by the Waterbury Firefighters and benefiting the Waterbury Youth Services System (WYSS).

Saturday, July 17th from 4 - 7:30 p.m. at the Old Waterville Firehouse at 1551 Thomaston Avenue.

Around 15 participating breweries and beer tables, including:
CT's Mike McCreary and his new Cavalry Brewing beers, BruRm@Bar , Cottrell / Mystic Drawbridge, Blue Point, New England Brewing, Saranac, Lake Placid, Kona, Hook and Ladder, Trout River, Narragansett, a selection of Polish & Lithuanian beers, Ommegang, Harpoon, Kona, Thomas Hooker, Strangford Lough (Ireland) and a "lemonade stand" featuring Mikes' Hard Lemonades.

The old Waterville Firehouse is located on Thomaston Avenue in Waterville (Waterbury).
[Directions: Take Rte 8 north from Waterbury (off I-84) to Exit 36. Turn right at end of exit ramp. Go up to first traffic light (2 blocks) and turn left onto Thomaston Avenue. Go about 1/2 mile and the Firehouse is on your left. Parking is available across the street and in the park or businesses in the area.]

The firefighters are experienced grillers and will be showcasing their skills with a BBQ featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and one of their special chili recipes--all to raise a little money to further restoration of the old firehouse where the event is being held. The beer tasting will be held outside, next to the firehouse, under a large tent. A dining area, including a live jazz band ("Tony and Area 203"), will be set up inside the fully restored main floor of the firehouse. The Waterbury Firefighters also anticipate having some members of the CT Firefighters' Pipes and Drums Corp in attendance so you might get a little bagpipe music thrown is as well.

The cost is $25 per person in advance ($30 at the door) which includes everything except the BBQ food which will be offered at nominal prices. Tickets are available through the Waterbury Youth Services System, at our store Mountview Plaza Wines & Liquors in Naugatuck, or through the Waterbury Firefighters. Tickets are available on line at the Waterbury Firefighters' website:

Since we will then find ourselves in Waterbury at 7:30pm, I'd be happy to hang for the evening if anyone has any suggestions of places we can go!

Thanks again Brenden for this awesome information!
