October meetup

Last meetup went very well, and we went over lots of fantastic ideas. Each of us brought 30 ideas to the table, some good, some great. Some made us laugh, and some made us think - some even made us choke on our marble cake and cinnamon rolls. It was fun.

Next time we agreed to bring 4 things:
1) a pitch for whichever of the 120 ideas we liked best (or maybe a merge of multiple ideas), including a storyline and script (possibly using a tool like Celtx)
2) a quick demo of what we learn in the weeks prior to the next meeting with whatever skill we are weakest at
3) another quick demo of one of the new features of the recently released Blender 2.64 release candidate
4) a list of our favorite moments in movies and tv, animated, CGI, or anything else, just so we all get an idea for what sorts of things get us excited, and what we would love to spend time working on.

Same place as last time, in one of the study rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the Stamford library. Anyone else who wants to join in the fun, feel free to come along, there is plenty of space. If you decide to come, please do points 2 to 4 above. The concepts we are choosing from were already listed last meeting, but you will be able to voice your opinion as to which of the 4 concepts pitched will be the one we work on.

Went great. Watched Tears of Steel, and played with the rigging on a quad bot from the movie. Discussed thug chase, Celtx, and animation camera styles.

Had to postpone as half of the group can't make it on October 6th. I'm out of the country for a few weeks, so now the October meetup is actually in November :-)

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
