ConnCon!

3 days of awesome gaming and nerdery at a swanky hotel in Stamford. The con has tons of boardgaming & RPGs and this will be it's 25th year! You can check out the wonderfully retro website here: http://conncon.com/

It does require a paid badge for entry, but if you act fast you might be able to volunteer to run events to get in free of charge.

If nothing else, you don't want to miss the Pretty Pretty Princess tournament!

I'm glad I went. Met some new people and played a great new game called Warparty!

My only regret is I couldn't spend more time.

Very fun, lots of nice people to play with. Tons of games there. People were more than happy to share their games and teach.

Because many FCBG'ers will probably look at this page, here are some notes as to what we've been up to regarding game nights at MediFit...

We moved to a big, glass building at 535 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk... off of I-95 exit 14 or 13. I've been giving it some time for us to warm up to the building. There is an awesomely large common conference room here that would fit around 30 people with tons of room to spare. I'm going to approach the building manager about using the room after hours.

If things go well, we may be able to start up even larger Friday game nights at MediFit again. I'll keep you posted.

I've been attending ConnCon since 2007 and they still haven't changed the website. At first I hated it, but now I kind of like the fact that it hasn't changed.

Heck yeah, I'll be there. I'll be running the following games, so sign up: Star Trek Catan, Galaxy Trucker, Railways of Europe, and Dicetown!

Best to think of it as a really big weekend long open gaming night that draws people from a good distance further away.

It's $45 for the weekend (99% sure). There are no tournaments other than Pretty Pretty Princess. The RPG/BG split is pretty even in terms of overall attendance but the BG people don't really ever see the RPG stuff since they are largely in different parts of the hotel. Total number of BG players is in the couple hundred realm. Tons of open play, lots of timed slots for popular games/teaching sessions. Plus lots of heavy drinking!

I went last year. It was mostly board-game oriented. Last year it was $45 for 3-day pass, or $20 iirc. There wasn't much tournament style play. There were a bunch of organized games you could register for that were all taught, and a LOT of just plain old open gaming happening everywhere. Highly recommended!

Any clue how much it costs?

    January 10, 2013

Is this more RPG heavy than board game? Are the events generally tournament style or is there open play? Interested in this, but kinda looking to get a better feel for what it's like.
And yes the website is wonderfully retro.
    Thanks for your help!
