World-class piano/flute duo in NYC - Richie Beirach, Jamie Baum

Pianist Richie Beirach and flautist Jamie Baum are performing at the Kitano. This performance will be great for (a) those who like intimate, solo and duet performances with piano and (b) work in, or able to get into, Manhattan. The concert begins at 8:00 and we can meet at 7:30pm for those wanting to eat together.

Richie Beirach is considered one of the top 5 premier solo jazz pianists (similar to Fred Hersch whom we've seen). He rarely plays outside Europe, except this week. Jamie Baum is Downbeat's #1 rising flautist, with a "best of 2013" CD. We heard her with septet earlier. The Kitano is one of the top locations for jazz in the city; at Park & 38th. You don't buy tickets in advance but do make reservations. ~ a week before the event I'll hold a table for the # interested in attending. I realize this is an NYC, not a suburb gig, but I'll definitely be there and welcome company! Cover $30 + $15 minimum food/beverage.

Beirach and Baum built up this roiling sea of emotion, mixing classical pieces with improvisation; original songs that changed keys and feels; and a few charged standards like Round Midnight. All from just a flute and piano!

I have reservations for 4 people tonight at Kitano's. If someone after Sheree, Kirbs and Kevin want to attend, please call the Kitano yourself and ask to be added to my reservation/table. See you soon, Scott

Great, see you there, kirbs.gc. Kevin and others, just confirm if you can make it and we'll hold a seat at the table. You're right, Richie is amazing and so is Jamie.

Definitely interested in catching this! I just called into the Kitano and added myself to your party Scott. It'll be my first time seeing either artist perform live so I'm looking forward to seeing this. I'll get there by 7 to grab a bite to eat before the show.

Haven't seen Richie in years. And kitano is a great space close to GCS. Hope I can make it
