I am an intermediate level climber who is climbing 5.10 - 5.11 indoors. I can lead 5.5 - 5.6 on trad. I lead WI 2-3+ on ice. I am certified as an AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor (Lead). In 2014, I will take the Single Pitch Instructor course hoping to be certified soon thereafter.
I can top-rope and lead belay with an ATC and grigri.
Yes. I top-rope both rock and ice. I sport climb and trad climb (rock and ice). I can build anchors as well.
I am all about weekend outdoor climbing. I climb at the gym M-W-F. I try to climb between 3 and 5 times a week.
I would be happy to help organize as needed. One thing that would be great is a way to pair people who have anchor kits with people who do not so groups do not consist of one top rope with 6 people.
I started climbing in March of 2010. I can't get enough of climbing and encourage everyone to climb and to find their own happiness. I climbed Mt. Washington and Mt. Rainier in 2013. I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2014. Mt. Elbrus is next in 2016.
Nate is doing a great job in getting people belay certified and getting the word out. A gym this well settled in The Gold Coast of Connecticut needs to have a bigger and better presence. The strength of the gym will be its location and the quality of the members. The gym setup and how the gym is run then needs to change in order to maintain the high level of quality that people in this area will or do expect.
