: to give someone a gift that was previously received from someone else
Please join members of the Fairlington Social Club for our annual re-gift party & potluck dinner on Friday January 10, 2014 at the Fairlington Community Center located at 3308 South Stafford Street Arlington, VA 22206 at 7:00 PM.
If you exchanged gifts this Christmas season it's likely that you received a gift that is just ... well, ... um, ... not very useful.
Or maybe it's useful, but you already have one or two of them.
Or maybe you don't like the person that gave it to you so you can't stand the thought of keeping the gift.
Instead of trashing it, instead of letting it sit in your closet, ... bring it to the Annual FSC Re-Gift Party.
It could be hand soap, a book, a clock radio, a chia pet, a bird feeder, a snorkel kit, a desk calendar, ... whatever. But, here are some simple guidelines:
Your gift should not be perishable/baked goods.
Do NOT buy an item for this exchange.
Not necessary to be gender neutral.
Be prepared to tell the story behind the gift. Hopefully it's a good one!
Minimal wrapping is good - we don't care if it's in a bag as long as it's concealed.
We'll do potluck drinks & light snacks, then re-gift.
Park on the street or in the community center lot.
Enter main entrance to the community center and turn left and go down the hall to room 100.
FSC Re-Gift Party Rules:
Each re-gifter brings a wrapped gift which are placed together.
Each re-gifter then draws a number out of a hat to determine in what order they will take turns selecting a gift.
The first re-gifter opens a wrapped gift and their turn ends.
On subsequent turns, each re-gifter can select and open a new wrapped gift or has the option to "steal" another re-gifter's already opened gift.
When a re-gifter has a gift stolen, they can choose another wrapped replacement gift or steal an open gift.
One cannot immediately steal back the gift that was just stolen from them and must wait at least one turn before stealing back a gift that was once in their possession.
A gift may be stolen a maximum of 3 times and cannot be stolen again.
The game is over when the last re-gifter has taken their turn.
