Please join members of the Fairlington Social Club for "Eileen's Emergency Hike" of the Billy Goat Trail - Section A located at the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center 11710 MacArthur Boulevard Potomac, Maryland 20854 on Sunday February 2, 2014 @ 10:30 AM.
This hike is about 4 miles in length and will take about 2 hours to complete.
We will meet at 10:30 AM across from the restrooms.
Look for the FSC meetup signs.
For those wishing to carpool from Arlington, we will meet at 9:45 AM at the Fairlington Villages Management Office located at 3001 S. Abingdon Street Arlington, Virginia 22206.
It is about a 35 minute drive from Arlington to the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center.
Please be on time or be prepared to drive yourself.
Driving on Interstate 495, cross into Maryland over the American Legion Bridge (beltway inner loop) and take exit 41 (Clara Barton Parkway) Westbound, left at fork. Follow Clara Barton to the end. At the stop sign, turn left onto MacArthur Boulevard. Follow MacArthur Blvd approximately 3.5 miles into the park. MacArthur Boulevard ends at the park entrance.
The National Park Service charges $5 per vehicle entrance fee to the park.
The weather forecast calls for temps in the high forties and no rain, so dress accordingly. This is practically a heat wave compared to the day after day of sub-freezing temperatures that we have had lately.
