Hey everyone, Scott and John are leading our first FSC bike ride in Easton Maryland the Saturday May 31st Read below for more details.
When: Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. You should leave Arlington no later than 9:30 a.m., preferably a little earlier in case there is traffic at the Bay Bridge. (Please be on time. If you need to cancel or are running late, please be courteous to the rest of the group by calling Scott at [masked] or John at [masked].
Join us as we bike the Tred Avon Circle on Maryland?s beautiful Eastern Shore. This flat, 32-mile ride starts in Easton and takes you through the historic town of Oxford, across the Tred Avon River on the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry (believed to be the oldest continuously operating, ?free? running ferry in the United States), onward to historic St. Michaels, and then back to Easton.
This is a flat, leisurely ride, but you should have a bike in good condition and be comfortable riding 30-plus miles at a pace of 11-14 mph. We will leave Easton and ride about 10 miles to Oxford, hang out there for a little while, cross the river by ferry, go on to St. Michaels where we can get lunch and wander around, and then bike back to Easton.
What to bring: Safety and comfort are both important, so pack accordingly:
Your bike (obviously), and make sure it?s in good working condition
A helmet (mandatory)
Bike lock, spare tubes, patch kit, and a pump
Comfortable biking attire
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a change of clothes for the ride home
$3 for the ferry ride
$2 in quarters to feed the meter at the parking lot
Money for lunch
Water and snacks
And if it rains? We?ll cancel and reschedule for another day. We?ll try to get the word out via the meetup web page as soon as possible.
