8/10 spots filled...

Every Year I host a game of Civilization in April for my Birthday. This will be the 10th running of a Civ game. This Year the plan is to play Advanced Civilization. My board can accommodate 12 players, but around 8 is a good game.   I am aiming for 10 so we have a bit of room. (the board is the same as normal but is extended to India and is only used if enough people want it.)

I have no problems going over rules before the game starts so new people are welcome. The game is easy to play but is long. Please be prepared to stay until the end. If the game is not finished by midnight we usually call it.

At present 8/10 spots are spoken for.

Myself +2 + those listed (5) = 8

Driving directions or Bus suggestions can be given if needed.  Street parking is ample.

O what fun.  I already have the game out.  Every year I invest a bit more time into it.We are playing Advanced Civilization...  with a few twists.

The Game.

If we Play with only 8,  Trade cards are as normal.

We play with the excel sheet, so as players purchase tech it becomes cheaper for others.  This helps keep the game closer.I use a 10 city rule with an extra stack for the 10th city.  It is a random deck and you may pull a 1 - 9 trade card but there are no calamities in this deck.  These cards act as a bonus resource of the appropriate type but will not increase the value of sets past their printed limit.  The cards do look different and will not be confused with normal resources. With the bigger board and more players I have added trade cards to each stack to keep the calamities on par with an 8 player game.  (No more than 2 resources added to each stack).  Some of the resources you will know others may be new to you.  Same rule as above,  You can not exceed the printed limit of the resource cards.I also play with a modified pirate rule but we can go over that when we start. If something is really wanted or not wanted we can make the decision at the start.

Play space.

I set up 2 tables 4'-0"x4'-0".  This gives a fair amount of room around the board.  The tables are higher then normal (think bar stool height), and I have a few chairs and stools.  This height is comfortable to stand or sit and people often do both throughout the day.  There should be enough chairs for everyone.  If you have a favorite chair feel free to bring it but be warned if standard height it will be short for the table. There are also couches and chairs nearby for when it is not your turn.

Co-op, IGA, Tim's, Subway, ............ are 3 blocks away.  You will need to pass them on your way to my house.  If there is something you want or something you want to contribute feel free to pick it up.  I will have some food, drinks available through out the day.  Also because it is my birthday I usually order some pizza.  Sorry this year I am just getting local pickup/delivery and we can order in the afternoon with a break for food.  Pre-ordering last year with special kinds/orders left my freezer with extra that no one wanted.

If you are having difficulty with directions or transit let me know.

If you are running late, let me know.  Please have a valid reason  (Car shopping is not valid ;p

Random note, after researching Civil War it was originally a #5 Calamity, AH changed it to #4 at some point with Flood.

Your copy does, most copies do. The change was when AH took over from Gibsons edition.

How would you feel about an inexperienced player? I have played many other games but not this one.

Most people can’t stand playing the same game for 10 hours but this game is not hard to learn. It is not a war game although some fighting is to be expected but it is about disaster management and recovery. If you are hit by a famine or epidemic how long does it take to come back? The experienced players will usually have lots of advice and help for the inexperience ones. There is a lot of trading and negotiating going on the whole game. Diplomacy and reputation in the game is important, experience less so.

Awesome. I will check my calendar. I love longer dames. Age of Empires, The Third Reich on the serious side, Twilight Imperium or Dune on the Spacey Side. Thanks.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
