Announcing a new event for The Calgary Boardgames Meetup Group!

What: Tabletop Soccer Drop-In (Subbuteo)

When: Sunday, January 27, 4:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Beginners welcome!

Why: Subbuteo is a blast: it's a combination of real-time pool, crokinole and soccer in one game. It's great fun to watch and even more fun to play!

Event Description: Subbuteo is a classic finger-flicking soccer-simulation action game. It is played on a large cloth playing field called a "pitch", with teams of players that are represented by miniature men mounted on smooth round bases. The men are made to kick the ball by flicking their bases, which causes the men to slide around on the pitch, hitting the ball. The rules simulate nearly all details of a soccer game including ball possession and passing, throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kicks. There is even a large section in the rules devoted to fouling. The game was originally invented sometime in the 1920s and developed quite a following in England, especially in the 1970s.
