Prepare Meals For Families with Children in the Hospital

Join us for the evening to give back. The Ronald McDonald House in Falls Church (behind Fairfax Hospital) houses families who have children with life threatening illnesses in the hospital. They need volunteers to come by and prepare meals so that the families can have a hot meal when they get back from visiting their kids at the hospital.

We will be cooking meals and preparing food that can be eaten later. I will bring the ingredients. Please bring $5 to contribute towards the ingredients or let me know if you would like to help supply them.

Meet us in the lobby at 6:15 pm. If you will be running late, please let me know so that I can make sure you are greeted and directed to the kitchen where we will be working.

Dress comfortably. All ages are welcome for this activity.

The RMH has needs for other things as well - if you have extra of any of these and would like to bring them along, please do:
*Laundry detergent & Dryer sheets*
Dish detergent & dishwasher detergent
Color-safe Bleach
Disposable kitchen storage containers
Liquid Antibacterial hand soap*
13 Gallon Trash Bags*
Lightbulbs (energy saving please) 40 & 60 watt
Swiffer wet and dry wipes
Swiffer Jet refills & pads
Disinfectant spray
Full size mattress pads
White hand towels*
8x11 copy paper
8x11 reams of yellow paper for events

I was honored to participate in this worth-while event: to see and find out all obout the Ronnie McDonald house, donate various items that are in need, and the fun part was preparing the dinner and snack bags with a great group of volunteers. Thanks Sharon and hope we can do this again.

Many thanks to Sharon (& Mom) for putting this together! I really appreciate the opportunity to help (in a very small way). I hope this will become a regular event.

Excellent Idea ....just needs to be better planned if done again, though I think this was a first-time-tried, so a lot of leeway should be given.

I was pretty unprepared for the way some group members seemed to regard and speak to/of each other and address each others' efforts at this event (which was a charity activity). Not sure if the intended spirit of the outing, as far as what I myself expected, was really there. I don't think it affected the "charitable efforts" themselves, so to speak, so I guess it all comes out well in the overall anyway.

Great idea to giveback, and Sharon (and mom Melinda) handled it all smoothly. Glad to be part of it. I was cranky when I got there - and am really glad that I participated!

Great group - everyone that RSVP'd showed up and came ready to help. We made 4 pizzas, 2 salads, 2 icecream bar desserts, and 3 big baskets of snack bags for the families at Ronald McDonald House.
