If you attended Dubai's Fashion Forward last season, it definitely left you wanting more from each and everyone of the event's special guest speakers! We fell in love with Rozan Ahmed at the 'Buyers where art thou' Hia magazine panel and she has graciously agreed to share with us some of her valuable insight. TheFashSet invites you to this one-off exchange with Rozan Ahmed - an event not to be missed!
Background: "bougi" can mean many things to many people. A candle to the French, "uppity" in most parts of the United States, and even a medical term for the doctors amongst us. For Rozan Ahmed, bougi is the name behind her brainchild - a new authority and popular movement that dedicates itself to championing the creative works of returning markets such as Africa and the Middle East. "I prefer to use the term 'returning' for a reason" says Rozan, "these regions aren't new to wealth at all, the only thing emerging here is a new empire, and it is one that we have to independantly embrace".
As a leading voice of inspiration in the arts and social development, Rozan has travelled the globe engaging, training and empowering audiences far and wide on what she likes to call "cultural conservation". She sheds light, opinion and insight into her world, her experiences and what it means to be socially and conscientiously relevant, breaking down fundamental relationships between culture and commerce, identity and ownership.
