Hobo Couture Charity Fashion Photoshoot

Come join us in supporting our Children's Cancer Research fundraising program by participating in the Hobo Couture Fashion Photo Shoot! We'll be shooting in the city around a construction site and some urban boarded up houses, which will be the perfect backdrop for this urban and edgy fashion style. Fashionable Causes is gearing up to produce our own line of fashion posters and calendars. The sales of these products will generate money that will be donated towards research programs that specialize in pediatric oncology. We'll also be collecting $5.00 donations to support our charity fundraising program.

Fashion Definition:

Embrace your tattered jeans, baggy sweaters and tattered accessories! New fashion that incorporates an almost homeless-like clothing appearance, including many layers of clothes that are often ripped and otherwise damaged. The look was largely inspired by the Olsen twins’ style.

Models will also be asked to be prepared by choosing your wardrobe in advance and submitting photos of you wearing it to [masked] by Tuesday October 16th 11:59 PM so that we can approve your wardrobe choices, or help you improve them.

Who should attend:

We took it up a notch this time! The photos came out amazing, the models had tons of energy and creativity in their wardrobe, Roya was on point with the make-up, Salve did an amazing job helping the models achieve high fashion hair styles, and the Photographers really grasped fashion photography by helping us put the edge into this shoot. I hope in the future more people will come out and support us. Our creative sphere is a powerful force. Our presence stopped people and cars in their tracks, and everyone was curious about Fashionable Causes and what we're doing to support charitable causes!

I always have fun at a Fashionable Causes photo shoot. Once pictures are posted you'll notice a lot when into outfit preparation. The photographers (me being one of them) worked hard to bring the theme to life today. Special Thanks to all the volunteers that showed up. And last but not least a Very Special Thanks to Roya for coming out and doing both the hair and make up for all the models. But this was a group effort and we all made this a very successful event.

It was pretty cool. I felt that the scenery was cohesive with the theme of the shoot. I wish that I could have stayed to watch the photos being taken, but I had to go to DC for the FBLDC Expo. I also wish that more people would have volunteered, I felt that it could have been amazing with more models and a few stylists.

Assistants and General Volunteers! I'll be needing help with distributing and collecting paperwork, checking photo IDs, collecting donations, and helping hold/carry photography gear such as lights and reflectors. Please be sure you are there no later than 10 AM! Your help is greatly appreciated so we can get the shoot started in a timely manner and make sure it runs smoothly. And special thanks to those of you who are willing to help out with more than one role :)

Ladies! Our make-up artist cancelled. Please bring your make up! Let's focus on dramatic smokey eyes. If you have lashes, let's put those on to emphasize the eyes more. I am arranging to see if I can get another make-up artist to help out last minute. Sorry for the inconvenience, but let's still meet and hour before the photographers get there so we can help each other with make-up, hair if you need help, and getting your approved outfits together. If your outfit is not approved, you need to contact me IMMEDIATELY. If it doesn't fit the theme, you will not be allowed to model it. This is the last day I can help you get appropriate wardrobe. 5/7 models are confirmed and have received wardrobe guidance or assistance. Some models are meeting at my place tonight so we can put finishing touches to wardrobe like accessories and we'll be practicing and doing a test shoot so the Photoshoot will rock! :) I'm super excited!!!

We've got a good mix here! About 4 models, some photographers, some assistants, and a blogger! I'm super excited. I just want to address some concerns. This style emerged as a way to glamorize frugality and comfort, and only earned the nickname "hobo" because that's how people have described it or criticized it. Wearing your favorite jeans till there's holes in it and your mom forcing you to wear hand-me-downs used to be stigmatized and used as a way to discriminate between classes. The fashion history behind this style is quite interesting and I encourage you all to research the history behind any style we explore. A fashion designer didn't walk up to a homeless man and say "Wahlaaah! That's my next big thing!" More like a designer put skinny models in over-sized clothing that was made to look worn to embody the image of working class Europe during the industrialization period...and his peers criticized him by saying his models look like "hobos", yet the Olsen Twins loved it :)

You should have plenty of time :) Especially since the models will arrive an hour before the photographers to get ready. Looking forward to working with you again

I'm a blogger, and would be coming for media coverage, however, I noticed that blogger wasn't on the "who should attend" list, are we still welcome?

Jada love your blog. And you did go for your first ever jump shoot!

Haha, thanks for noticing my efforts. I should have paid much better attention to my angling. My legsa and feet get lost in the shot. Better luck next time. Can't wait to meet you! :)

Photographers this event is a good time to practice or try High Speed Flash Photography. That way you get some really deep blue skies. I'm building a Shoot list. A list of ideas or shots I (you) like to walk away with. Remember everyone the more we put into it the better the photo shoot. Can't wait to see the outfits!

Models, please send me your wardrobe photos for approval. If you need help, this is the time to ask so we can plan to have you look your best :) [masked]
