The Patuxent Research Refuge - North Tract is a huge area that offers a variety of habitats for birds.
While hot in mid-summer, the possibility of finding tanagers is good. Let's get out there and see if we get lucky.
We will drive the paved wildlife loop in hopes of finding summer birds, including indigo buntings, sparrows, and warblers.
There are also hummingbird feeders next the visitors center with a great colored backdrop. Spend time stalking the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds for that perfect image.
We will meet at the North Tract of Patuxent Research Refuge. Bring water and a snack. Prepare for the heat accordingly.
All visitors are required to sign in with the visitors center, and sign out prior to departure.
