Summer care packages for our skid row neighbors

Hi volunteers!

Please join us on July 27th Saturday in skid row to assemble care packages and distribute to the needy. Please sign up using the comments section of this meetup. I'll start emailing those who RSVP of any items we still need after I compile everyone's contribution from the comments section.

We are also partnering with another meetup group led by one of our own committed volunteers, William. Here is the site to join: http://www.meetup.com/Community-Recycling-Outreach-Organization/events/127901682/

PLEASE bring your recyclables that day and William will collect and raise funds for the next meetup to feed the homeless.

We use this opportunity to give back because we realize we've been given so much. The care packages are important, but our words to encourage, inspire and bring hope to those who are down and our are of greater value.

For the care packages please pick something from the list (look through your travel items even from hotel stays):

*water, water water! (if possible, please bring chilled in iced coolers if it's very hot that day)

*small wash cloths

*bars of soap

*shampoo

*deodorant

*toothbrush / toothpaste

*sunblock

*lotion

*hats and caps

*feminine napkins

*undergarments like boxers and underwear (men and women)

*socks

*I will provide 100 gallon size ziploc bags and will bring an ice chest of ice cream fruit bars to pass out.

THANK YOU and blessings from our God.

Molly

Well, hello Molly. When I joined the group, I thought that I would be simply "assembling" care packages not providing items to put in them, however, I do not mind. I know that most of us have items mentioned on your list at home already and/or there is always the $0.99 store, right?? I'll just bring a mixture of stuff on your list (and maybe some stuff not on your list). How about items for children (what is the skid-row population of kids like?)

    2 · July 1, 2013

    • Molly S.

Population in skid row is mostly men and then women. Children are usually not around. Please bring the extra toiletries you have around your house. I also buy things at 99 cent store and you could also rally friends and family to bring their donations. Thanks Kim!!
