It saddens me that they have little or nothing - they try to survive every day, not knowing if they will get the help or support to get through one day or throughout their entire lives. I have so much - the least I can do is to pitch in and help other people like me, who show that they care and are compassionate towards the less fortunate.
It's still shocking to me. When my family and I migrated to America, I was shocked to see that there are homeless people. In the Philippines, I've seen children wandering the streets, asking and begging for alms or food. Some were so poor, that they've resorted to pick-pocketing and stealing in order to survive and feed their starving families.
