Thanks so much for joining the Feed the Homeless, Los Angeles meetup group! We look forward to seeing you at our first event on May 26th Saturday, 1pm at the mission on San Julian. The term "God Bless You" will take on an entirely new meaning! You will be someone's blessing and those whom you serve will feel blessed by your efforts.
We are 45 members and counting. Please share this Meetup opportunity with your friends! Click on the link below to share on Facebook and Twitter. This only takes 5 seconds and could be a huge help in expanding the number of hearts and hands that could contribute to making our local world a better place.
For those who have and will RSVP for the 26th, I will send another email out with details such as parking, what to expect, what dishes to bring or how else to contribute, donate, etc.
My heartfelt thanks for your heart and action,
Did you know an estimated 254,000 men, women, and children experience homelessness in Los Angeles County during some part of the year? Unaccompanied youth are estimated to make up 4,800 - 10,000 of these. -Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty at the Weingart Center.

I am working on setting up a new housing charity called A Roof Above Us, which provides free transitional housing to homeless women with children, and homeless veterans with children. We've operated privately and out of pocket and are now in the process of seeking our 501(c)(3) designation in order to expand our goals of providing more housing.
We have a sustainable model in running our charity that can continue and grow. Proceeds from your donations will go towards finishing the filing process and ultimately to raise enough money to assist in purchasing or rehabbing homes purchased. We are also accepting donations for office equipment (computers, printers, etc.), home fixtures and furnishings for these homes.
Please help by donating to our GoFundMe page:
Proceeds of this campaign will go towards:
1. Finishing the 501(c)(3) filing process
2. Purchase of homes for use as cost free transitional housing for these families. The charity will primarily be funded by profits from the purchase and resale of distressed homes. Using private investors and providing them with a highly competitive rate of return, will ensure a continuous source of funding for the projects. For every 5 projects done, proceeds will be used to purchase a home for charitable use.
3. Cover repair costs for these homes
4. Fund educational programs in the computer sciences for both children and adults in the homes. We believe that anyone can learn the basics in coding, web design, internet marketing, etc - and that these are the most relevant skills for the future . This will help families become self-sufficient by ensuring they have marketable skills and more potential for higher earning jobs.
