Join John and explore Alki Point Landslides

John wears yellow! 5.8 mile hike. Meet me at the JACK BLOCK VIEWPOINT, at the very EAST end of the park, just keep following the pavement east and park near the east-most restrooms. After parking, walk the path northeast to the raised viewpoint- best in the city! Our start point is on top of the raised viewpoint. We will walk and view some of the more notable W. Seattle landslide locations. This walk will 5-6 miles long with a significant hill to climb. Includes viewing the slide areas from Alki beach then venturing up Bonair Dr SW to the Clamar Pl. W. landslide bench. Then a walk to California Ln SW and return to Jack Block Park. Links to Seattle landslide studies, all quite interesting…

I ditto the comments left so far. It was my first time event with Feet First and I had the best time. The highlight for me was the two bald eagles courting. Ah romance. Too bad they were too far away to get a good photo with my little point and shoot. I look forward to the next adventure!

Tremendous tour of West Seattle landside locations, and John brought historic photos of the various catastrophes. Terrific group, good pace, superb views, and lots of sunshine---hard to think of any way it could have been better!

This was great! John set a fast pace and I had to peel off before the end but I would definitely do it again. I met some very nice people.

May I bring my dog? She's friendly to people and other dogs.

Good topic, John. Few people realize the slide history along the hills above Alki. People thinking about buying property under these hills should take this walk before buying condos there. I met one surprised person a few years ago dismayed during the last landslide that his condo was sliding down the hill.

Arrive early, meet at eastern viewpoint. Leave time to walk to viewpoint. Park as far east as road will go in Jack Block Park! Post a reply if you will show, and you are welcome even if you do not RSVP! See you Sunday. This is a walk and talk.
