Feminista is a forum for dialogue where cultural representations of gender and gender violence in film, contemporary and popular art forms will be used as a focus for discussions. We will explore art that analyzes concepts of femininity and masculinity. We will also explore art that depicts different forms of gender violence in our society--from the nuanced to the explicit.
Global cultural perspectives constitute our anchor, considering the experiences and points of view of feministas from different countries, ethnicities and identities. Film screenings, public lectures and museum visits will be scheduled on a monthly basis. We will also participate in local grassroots feminista events/demonstrations on an ongoing basis.
The group is a work in progress. It is also non-hierarchical...that means that anyone who joins is welcome to post any event in the calendar or schedule a meeting that falls within the general focus of the group.
