Game Night

Name your game, game night. I have not had the time to coordinate a new place and location so for this game night we will meet at Wegmans on Alberta Drive again, like in May.

For name your game, lets have some suggestions for games we have not tried yet and you are willing to share and show us how to play. And of course, if people want to challenge for the Blokus title again we can have that game there :)

Another fun game night - looking forward to the August rendition. Leo's new game was awesome with a bunch of players (even if someone targeted me for instant laser death...). And we still have a mess of other new games to try (Munchkins, that racecar game) - should be a lot of fun.

Wait did I say "ahhh zombies?" (eh, I'm already dead - what does it matter?)

I am in love with that game! It was a blast!

I ordered a copy of that game on amazon.com. Comes with a mysterious Chaos pack. I can't wait to introduce some of my other friends to the game.

      Which Wegman's?

The Alberta Drive Wegmans. The top back corner was perfect for a group of gamers!

I can bring "We didn't playtest this at all"

    July 23, 2013

    • Gina

Leo, is this the name of the game you brought? Super fun!! I loved your chopstick tale, too. I believe it's idiosyncrasies that makes this group kindred nerds! ;) Rock on, dude! LOL

Gah! Do sad I missed this!!! It has been on my wishlists for awhile now

      July 31, 2013

  • Kathryn E.

It was fun playing a couple of new games and to make some new friends.

Hey... stop procrastinating online... you need to watch more Orange is the new Black lol

      2 · July 31, 2013

      AND old(er) friends, too!

      July 31, 2013

I love game night! Good to see everyone!! Oh, except Ryan who must have needed additional practice time!! :)

Blame my wife/boss, she overworks me. It's on for next time.

I love game night as well - it's one of my favorite FNP offerings. We just need a few things to maximize the potential - an intern for Kelly, a cat sitter for Andrea, someone to keep placing my drink in front of Gina (I get tried of doing it myself)

      1 · July 31, 2013

  • Timothy S.

Thanks all for coming by game night. I tried a fun new game Leo brought, met a new FNP member Jessica who could take on wolverine, I was tempted by cookies Steve brought, had a fun Blokus Duo game with Melissa (a warm up for her to take on Andrea), shared in mutual Hellzapoppin memories with Gina, helped with peer pressure on Andrea from leaving early and Kathryn's CAH was a perfect end to the game night.

I'm speaking with a place in Hamburg right by the beach to have a game night there where we can stay till after 9:00 and be as load as we want to laugh and read the Cards Against Humanity cards. Tentatively for the last Tuesday of August, the 27th.

If I go, I will bring my Big Bang Theory clue game. We won't play it as it is still has not been opened, but you all may look! ;-P

    July 28, 2013

    • Alberto V.

Though some how it does not compare to what we saw at Ryu-Kon!

      1 · July 29, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I used to love playing Clue. And yeah... don't open that copy... you must keep it in mint condition :)

      Blokus is my favorite

      July 29, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I'll bring my copy of Blokus and maybe even the 2 player one. Steve will probably bring his copy too.

Well even though they may not be "popular"', I still appreciate the now "classics", such as Trivial Pursuit, Life, Battle Ship, etc... There are a lot of fun North American games. Heck...if someone wants to bring along a table top hockey game or electronic football game, those are cool too!

    1 · July 29, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I like to pull out some classics sometimes too. Though I'd stay away from bringing loud tabletop hockey or electronic football to public venues like Wegmans and such.

I just had something come up and have to bow out tomorrow night. Sorry guys :(

What games ? I have a few friends of a friend that do an "Improv night" on Tuesday, that would interesting to try. You would have to act out some strange stuff. It might help me develop creativity, and not be so "stiff" as I have been charged with being lately!

    July 25, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I have heard of an improve group in the area that offers programs for companies and such for team building. I heard it was fun. But if you know of a group that does improve nights open to the public to participate feel free to suggest it as a meetup event or add it as a Discussion to see what interest there is.

      July 25, 2013

    • Timothy S.

These particular game nights though are for more traditional board/card/party type games.

  • Mykal

Can we play Cards Against Humanity again or not at this venue?

    2 · July 22, 2013

    • Ryan G.

      I'll bring CAH.

      July 22, 2013

    • Timothy S.

Sure... it's playable there, we just need to try and keep it quiet, and even try a table near the back to not upset other people or if kids are around the cafe area.

      July 23, 2013

  • Timothy S.

Nice game suggestions. Please feel free to bring a game to share with the group or part of the group, we can have a few games going on at the same time at different tables. We may not get to all the games in one night but that is what a future game night is there for.

Man! Not sure I will be here... or ypu foing that on purpose? ;-)

as long as you realized your mistake...

      July 22, 2013

    • Timothy S.

yep I realize my mistake... though I'll probably do the same thing again for future events

      July 23, 2013

  • Ryan G.

I have Ticket to Ride, which is a lot of fun.

    July 23, 2013

I'm a maybe. Depends on how mobile I am feeling by then.

Soo, new to the group here - anyone a Munchkin player? I've been dying to play that game properly.

    July 17, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I played a game about a decade ago. I'd have to have a total refresher on the rules.

      July 22, 2013

    • Kathryn E.

I have Munchkin and can bring it along.

      1 · July 22, 2013

I'm certainly up for another game night. Plus we'll finally have Ryan v. Andrea - GN1 Blokus champ versus GN2 Blokus champ! I can't wait to take third place (and yes, I AM being optimistic)

    July 17, 2013

    • Kelly G.

Watch out, guys. Ryan bought Blockus so he could practice. :P

      July 18, 2013

    • Timothy S.

I'll watch the hardcore blokusing from the sidelines.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
