Game Night

Name your game, game night. Going back to our "safe place" and the normal last Tuesday of the month for this game night we will meet at Wegmans on Alberta Drive again.

For name your game, lets have some suggestions for games we have not tried yet and you are willing to share and show us how to play. Or games like the paper game that all of us have not tried yet or past favorites. And of course, if people want to challenge for the Blokus title again we can have that game there :)

We will meet near the back or left side of the second floor area in the cafe section.

Always love game night - We Didn't Play Test This at All was particularly enjoyable this evening (maybe because I wasn't killed instantly). I'm looking forward to trying some of the new games next time. Good to see everyone!

    Should I bring drinks?

    October 29, 2013

    • Timothy S.

As long as they are non alcoholic. It is at the wegmans cafe area so they have food and drinks to buy there.

      October 29, 2013

  • Dani

family obligations unfortunately mean I won't make this one.

    October 28, 2013

    • Timothy S.

Sorry to hear that.... and hopefully the family obligations are not bad and go well.

I'm out - spent the weekend away, came home exhausted and with a ton of chores! If the elusive Andrea shows up, someone give her a big hug and take her pic!! She's been missed!!

    October 28, 2013

    • Steve G

Boooo indeed!! We finally coaxed Andrea out of the house and now Gina's bailing?!!? So much for that intervention we had planned....

      October 29, 2013

    • Timothy S.

Gina and her posse will not be there?...awww. Well, get alot of rest and I'll see you at a future event.

Is anyone interested in a movie trivia game? Pass the Popcorn?

    October 27, 2013

    • Timothy S.

It sounds like a fun game and with so many people liking the movie trivia on thursdays I'm sure you will get enough people wanting to try it.

I will try to remember to bring Zombie Fluxx with me. Super easy and fun.

I want to make one of these gaming nights, but this one unfortunately falls when I have a class! Maybe next time? I have a few card games: Boss Monster, Groo (the game), Munchkin Cthulhu, and Nuclear War. If anybody has any interest, let me know!

With a larger group coming we can probably have multiple games at different tables going on. A few of us even have CAH and blokus and such. So we can have several games going on at different tables and groups. So feel free to post what game or games you will be bringing and people can even start organizing what they want to do ahead of time.

I like the idea of smaller groups. I'll play a traditional 2 player game with whomever brings one. My friend can bring Pandemic. I can bring Terrace, Chrononauts, and Zombie Dice.

      October 17, 2013

  • Leo

I'll be a +1. I'm bringing the friend I went to Wierd Al with.

I came across and interesting house rule to CAH. Though I don't think alcohol use is condoned so we'll need to tweak the rule. Not only is a best answer chosen, but a worst answer is chosen and that person has to do a shot. For our purposes, how about that person has to stand up and sing a nursery rhyme?

    October 15, 2013

    • Timothy S.

Singing would not be a good idea in a public place that people normally don't sing in :) Maybe hold off on this till the wine bar as I would guess wine drinking there is ok. Or if someone holds a game night event at their house or something.

      October 16, 2013

    • Leo

Works for me. No one wanted to go to wine night. I can try that again, but I thought I would first bug people about it at Say Cheese.

      October 17, 2013

  • Kathryn E.

FYI, I have Ticket to Ride Europe, India and Switz, CAH, Munchkin, Taboo, Star Trek Catan, Mord Im Arosa, Unexploded Cow, and Airlines Europe.

I was hanging out at my usual haunt, a wine bar, and discussing good times to try to get some kind of meetup there when one of the workers mentioned Mondays were good because they are usually dead, so if I wanted I could pull the tables together and bring games. I was like - I play game night. So I'm thinking of throwing in a meetup to go to the wine bar so people can check it out and see if they might want a game night there in November or after. Or we could play RPGs there, since we need a night and place for that.

Would some sort of game night at a wine bar work for people?

I used to game with a friend way back when. Robotech / Macross (Yes, like the Anime), followed by RIFTS and Palladium. Never really got into a group after that though (we drifted apart after high school), so it would be excellent to start something up. It really is a lot of fun. Like gambling, but instead of losing money, a fictional person gets killed off. :P

I added a Monday night meet-up (look under suggested meet-ups). I don't push the RPG agenda heavily in it, but obviously I am hoping to at least make plans (and I'll have to see about bringing in some ready made people and a module we can play through) to do such in the future. I'll even add bribery (because I'm not above such) to get people to show up. I can get us some pies from Lovejoy Pizza right down the block. So red wine, pizza, and RPG lovers! Since I doubt too many will show up at first, that ought to be safe.

If anyone here plays or want to play RPGs, help us get things rolling.

i used to play online and i thought it was pretty cool bc you could walk into a bar meet someone...have a drink with them then maybe fight a battle with or for them if you have the right abilities.

Tentative on this, but I'm hoping. It's been way too long since I made a game night!

I was looking into places to setup an event for playing some casual video games, even kinect or wii games but the options were limited or cost too much to rent a place. I would think though, a place like Lake Erie seaway trail would work if we got people to bring the equipment. Or someone hold a small event at their house. But something I've been sporadically looking into since FNP started.

      September 30, 2013

    • Leo

True, the equipment would be a hassle. A house party isn't a bad idea, especially if kept small. Maybe I ought to do some cleaning, lol.

Can we make it a tradition of walking up to unrelated ppl and talking to them? :P
