Are you an experienced or aspiring writer; has any of your work been published; do you like black licorice?

I have been a profile writer for the Daily News in Southern Utah, but not with a formal education in writing. I simply called the editor and told him, "Hey, my dad says I have a knack for writing. Will you give me a shot at working for you?" The man was open to this, so for the next year I wrote a lot, and in the end was offered the cooking column, plus a personal column. How I would have loved to have taken the opportunity! But I felt a gut feeling I shouldn't. I found out shortly after that I was expecting my third baby, and cutting up cilantro moved me to tears in those months... a fine columnist for cooking I would have been. "Hmmm. Let's see. Place two saltine crackers together with a piece of mild, tasteless cheese in the center." It wouldn't have worked, but I am definitely looking to expand my mind and find venues of writing for enjoyment.

What types of stories/books do you like to read?

Honestly...I'm usually caught in the middle of a self-help book. Awful, awful. As an exception to this, I just read the Hunger Games which I loved, and one of my piano students has made me commit to The Hobbit before it hits the big screen. I love Jane Eyre, and any YA Fiction that has to do with a female heroine without completely dismissing the capabilities of men. (Tough to find.) I also really enjoy reading about cooking, recipes, humor, biographies well-written. My insanely well-read husband would trip if he knew I was considering a fictional club... I can see him saying, "Ha. What would YOU write?" Who knows? Maybe something really, really neat-o!

Hi! I'm Elaine. I am a daily writer, for my personal enjoyment. I've been looking for a while for a writer's club. Who knows? This one might be "the one."

    Dearest Elaine and Trisheena,
I love you ladies. Thnx 4 your honesty Elaine. And for the tolerance of my ramblings you both graced me with.
Told you I was a "Genius Retard". Next time just say, "Paris, GRT." ("Genius Retard Torture" ie: "CWT: Chinese Water Torture" ;)
Honestly? Not sure what possessed me, other than living alone 24/7 for last 7 years. Writer's group is my only interaction, by choice, because You're Awesome! Don't ever want to exile myself.
    Sincerely w/Care, paris

Elaine, I would love to give you what info I have on childrens book publishing. Could I send it to your email, it's longer than I could post on here.

Did Lisa take her name off the member list? I wanted to tell her how great I thought her story was and that I was excited to read her work again...?
