Hello and welcome to Vegas Filipino & Friends Meetup group -- "You'll simply feel like instant family!"
My purpose in creating this group is to meet more people interested in the Philippine culture, the food and the people, of course. But also get more military families involved who are stationed in Las Vegas.
I am a USAF veteran, married to retired military and have two daughters who are currently serving active duty.
I'm very proud of my military association and love to promote about the military and how great it was to have started young, travelled, get educated, trained and gained work experiences that has opened doors throughout my life, meet others who I would never have met if I only lived in the same town or state, and most of all experienced the camaraderie unlike any other organizations or group I know!
While active duty in the Air Force, I've always participated and enjoyed the Asian-Pacific Heritage celebration no matter where we were stationed.
Since moving here in 2006, I didn't know where to go for the same experience and wanted to meet others who enjoy Filipino food, potluck and get-togethers. Then, I found Meetup and decided to form this group.
This group is for anyone interested in being with a friendly, caring, sincere and compassionate group of people who are down-to-earth individuals, drama-free and will be there in good times and bad. We don't discriminate in any way no matter what religion, race, gender, social or financial status!
Let's enjoy a family-friendly get-together, meet new friends, get reacquainted with old friends, discuss opportunities in business ventures, share and learn ideas, as well as enjoy Filipino foods and activities!
Everyone is welcome to join -- this group is open to men, women, singles, couples, families and children (with parents' permission, of course).
So if you love Filipino food, the people and its culture and/or may be associated with the military, this is a group for you!
I look forward to meeting you all! :)
*** NOTE: VFF has monthly meetings on the first Monday of every month. Would love to see you participate in our group.

Our 1st Mabuhay party was celebrated on May, 30, 2010. We had 32 people join us for this event -- everyone had a great time meeting people, as well as enjoying Filipino foods, esp. the lechon!
I plan to make the "Mabuhay" get-together an annual event for as long as there is an interest in the Vegas Filipino & Friends group, the Filipino foods and culture!
Eventually, I would like to get our members involved in learning the native dance and be good enough to perform at events during May's Asian-Pacific American Heritage Celebration at Nellis Air Force Base functions or anywhere in the Las Vegas area or neighboring states.
