Step into an 18th & 19th Century Timecapsule - Dennis Severs' House

Ever wished you could step into the past?

This is no museum, this is a house transformed into a “still life drama” which will provide you with a rare moment in which to become as lost in another time as you are in your own time.

Dennis Severs' House in Folgate Street is a "still-life drama" created by the previous owner as an "historical imagination" of what life would have been like inside for a family of Huguenot silk weavers. It is a Grade II listed Georgian terraced house in Spitalfields. From 1979 to 1999 it was lived in by Dennis Severs, who gradually recreated the rooms as a time capsule in the style of former centuries.

Upon entering in groups we will be given the introductory information/setting of the scene. This house is a still life drama in which we will be the passive participants, following the intro we walk around the house in peace and allow ourselves to be transported back to the 18th and 19th Centuries.

Entrance is £10 per person

The house will be open for our group only between 11am and midday

PS Transportation into another time is not guaranteed with this visit – that’s why it’s only £10

PPS This week is half term so the surrounding area may be quite busy, but we will have early access to this house until 12pm when it opens to the public.

A great collection from over the centuries but I could have done without the messages dotted about the place telling me I was looking at it all wrong :)

An experience of the senses - difficult to describe, it's like stepping into someone's imaginary universe or dreams.

Hi everyone. You can meet at the house at anytime between 11 and 11.30 tomorrow. We have the house to ourselves until midday although the public will begin queuing shortly after 11.30 so I recommend getting there before then. Although if your late it's no big deal :) please just remember you must bring the £10 in cash

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
