Let's see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

A group of British retirees travel to India for adventure and hijinx. Roger Ebert liked it, so we can't go wrong --right? Besides, worthy non-mainstream films have been scarce as of late. Meet us in the lobby by 4:15, or find us in the theater, if you get there later. Also join us afterwards to discuss the movie and all things filmic at nearby La Nopaleras. There are no nearby Indian places, unless we wish to travel to Baymeadows. A $2 donation to defray web site expenses is always appreciated.

You won't find yourself confusing this film with the gritty realism of Salaam Bombay! or even the PBS mini-series of the Jewel in the Crown. Nevertheless, it's difficult to dismiss Best Exotic's charm. Its observations on coping with age and mortality ring true, in no small part to its splendid actors. Their performances rise above the clichés about following one's dreams and the Hollywood-esque fetish for trying to neatly tie up every loose thread of narrative at the end. A good time was had by all in attendance.

Hi Sara, I look very much like my picture. Just look for the guy who doesn't look too much like Brad Pitt ;-) Usually, there's a group of regulars, so we'll be standing around look for you and others who have responded. See you, Saturday.
