Reading Film Theatre - Saving Mr Banks

I'm planning to go along to see the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Oscar nominated film "Saving Mr Banks" and if you'd like to join me then you'll be more than welcome. As this is a "School Night" there isn't really enough time for a meal beforehand, and it'll probably be too late for one afterwards, so this Meetup is for the film only.

Meet at 7.15pm for 7.45pm start.

What's the film about?

When P.L. Travers travels to Hollywood in 1961 to finally discuss Walt Disney’s desire to bring Mary Poppins to the screen (a quest he began in the 1940s), Disney meets a prim, uncompromising septuagenarian not only suspicious of the impresario’s concept for the film, but a woman struggling with her own past. During her stay, Travers reflects back on her childhood in Australia, a trying time for her family which not only moulded her aspirations to write, but one that also inspired the characters in her book.

The " Rotten Tomatoes" website has links to a number of reviews if you'd like to find out more about the film.

Tickets

Tickets are available either in advance from the Reading Film Theatre website via  this link or they can be bought on the evening.

If you plan to buy a ticket on the evening, I'm not sure if they have a credit card machine so it may be worth bringing cash just in case.

Ticket Prices

Reading Film Theatre Members £5.50

Non-members £7.50

Senior citizens, students and unwaged £5.50 (on production of proof of status)

Children 14 and under £5.50.

The RFT have kindly agreed to allow us a group rate of £5.50 a ticket as long as there are 6 or more of us, and as long as we all buy our tickets at the same time.

Directions

The Reading Film Theatre website has information on how to get to the Whiteknights campus by car or bus, as well as a map showing where the Palmer Building is located on campus. You can find that information here

Where to Meetup

As you go into the Palmer Building you'll see a staircase approximately in the middle of the room. Just to the left of the stairs is the entrance to the Film Theatre. Let's meet between the stairs and the Film Theatre entrance.
