A Royal Affair

From the Varsity website:

Synopsis Based on actual events, in 1768, German doctor Johann Struensee accompanies King Christian VII of Denmark on a year-long tour of Europe. Queen Caroline is impressed by the doctor and falls in love with him. Slowly, Struensee gains more and more influence and starts implementing reforms, based on his humanistic value system. This leads to his downfall, orchestrated by the aristocracy.

I enjoyed the experience very much, and the discussion with the two of you. BTW, I looked up Caroline Mathilde and she was King George III's sister.

Great movie. Enjoyed the Danish history lesson and the discussion afterwards. Thanks Brian for hosting this on a slushy Toronto evening.

I was quite impressed with how the movie was able to tell both a personal and political story. Great acting by all, particularly the King. I would recommend this to any of you who haven't seen it yet. Thanks to Krystyna and Joyce for the discussion afterward.

Excellent! A lot more interesting and complex than the trailer lets us believe.
