“Dream On Sunday”

So here we go, there are now 20 Artists & Lovers of, & I think it’s high time I schedule a Meetup.

The first one will be a “Dream On Sunday” as in, what would you like to see this group do, be, become? Let’s get together this Sunday around 3:00 at Stellar Studios (we wont always meet here, I know there are quite a few of you from other areas & we can figure out other locations later.) I would like to give you 2 assignments, first what do you “dream” of doing? Is it a group project with a mix of media? A giant 16 foot clay sculpture of your childhood trike? Or maybe a dozen cans welded to your bumper? Whatever you want to see or participate in, write it down & we’ll figure out how to make it happen.

Second, I would like to get an idea of what kind of tools (if any) you might have or have access to. For instance I have a large ceramic kiln, several glass kilns, an annealing/Vitrograph kiln, & an Enameling kiln. Plus a large sand blaster, and a couple of glass torches available. What I don’t have is a welder or a plasma cutter (put a sad face here) so if anybody else has one or both, Yippee!

If you can't make this date I'll give you these assignments as homework & you can put them in the discussions area  or email me so you can still give us an idea of what you want out of this group.

This was great. Really got me thinking about creating a mixed media artwork for myself.

This is going to be a great Meetup group. Even in a meeting with just four of us, we already figured out there is going to be a great many "road trips" in our future... For metal supplies, out of town workshops, Artists' studios etc. Along with great sessions to make art & BS sessions to swap tall tales as well as resources.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
