Picnic at Blue Rock Resort

A Cape Town summer is one of those gifts to be savoured.  What better way than a picnic at Blue Rock Resort on Sir Lowry's Pass in Somerset West.  Blue Rock is one of the few recreational places in South Africa with naturally clear and clean water.  The lakes deepest point is 65m, which makes it an excellent training ground for scuba and commercial free diving, aslo the playground of many Kitesufers and Wakeboarders.

The cost of this outing will be R50 per person.  This includes entrance fee to the resort as well as a contribution towards a VIP Sun Picnic Spot.  The fee covers swimming, rock jumping and parking costs. Should the mood grab you - you can pay extra at the resort to participate in activities such as paintball, waterski, fufi slide, and volley ball.  Oh yes - and you will need to bring your own picnic basket.

Once we receive your RSVP, we will forward you the bank details to secure your place at the picnic.

Also - if needed once we know who is going we can coordinate lifts.

Looking forward to another 'first time' experience with y'all.

cheers, Shamillah, Michelle and Zoey

What an awesome meetup. Was great to connect with familiar and new First Timers. Despite a bit of wind, Blue Rock is an awesome spot - it was not crowded and a great place to wind down.

And, I was also thinking of walking up table mountain on Saturday am, but been told not to go solo... are there other first timers interested? its a 2.5 hr uphill and 1.5 hr down, worst case, I am told, not wanting to put any one off of course...

To all the late adopters - here are the details for the picnic.

If you are unable to make the deposit -but will still join, please meet us at the entrance of Blue Rock at about 10.30 on Sunday. I will have a sign saying First Timers - so if you have never joined us before you can find us easily. Website www.bluerock.co.za for more info on Blue Rock Resort and other activities.

You may bring your own picnic food, but NO beverages are allowed to be brought onto the premises, you can get that from the Restaurant.

If you do not feel like bringing a picnic basket - you can buy your snacks and meals from the restaurant.

Only chairs and umbrellas are allowed, no gazebos as the resort have allocated picnic spots already set up. No braaing allowed due to fire restrictions (including gas).

Bring your swimming costumes and your YOLO attitude for some great fun!

Looking forward to another awesome first time event some 'old' and new first timers.

    cheers, Shamillah
