This week's Fit Trip will be a morning walk across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge that spans from Maryland to Virginia (or vice versa). This is an easy paced walk approximately 4.5 miles to complete. We will meet in the parking lot of Jones Point Park and will begin the walk on the Virginia side of the bridge. All fitness levels are welcome. Prior to beginning the walk, there will be a 20-minute fitness session that will focus on strength, balance, and core.
For the 20-minute fitness portion of the morning workout, please bring a towel, gloves, and/or a fitness mat to avoid injury or discomfort. Exercise modifications will be made for those who require it. The workout will include push-ups, crunches, walking lunges, and plank positions. This will prepare our bodies for the morning walk and help us to burn a few extra calories. Remember to bring plenty of water and any other items you need to get through the walk. There are restrooms and water fountains available near the parking area for your convenience. Parking at this location is free.
Remember to wear proper shoes and clothing for the weather. Arrive at least 5 minutes early so that we may begin on time. If anyone requires a ride or willing to carpool, please make contact with the group early on so arrangements can be made. I look forward to getting fit and exploring this part of the D.C. metropolitan area with you!
