Recovery from addiction is a process of the mind, soul and BODY! However, all too often you don't see people in recovery treating their bodies very well. They drink coffee like there's no tomorrow and devour cakes and cookies daily at meetings. I am a strong believer that nourishing my body with healthy food and getting plenty of exercise is an important part of my recovery program. I find that if I neglect or abuse my body, my mind and spirit suffer as well.

When I meet new people in recovery, it is typically about meeting for coffee and to chat. Although I love my coffee as much as the next 'Anonymous' member, I thought it would be nice to meet new people over pre-planned active events that will invigorate our bodies as well as enhance our mental and emotional well-being. As a sober personal trainer that is passionate about both sobriety and fitness, I am excited to organize such activities.

Although I am open to taking on new clients and LOVE to work with people in sobriety, there is absolutely NO FEE OR OBLIGATION when joining this group. The purpose of this group is to combine the two most important aspects of my life - recovery and fitness - and to offer a platform for other sober women to explore the link between them.

This group is for any woman in recovery who is either already living an active lifestyle or would like to become more active. Whether you are younger or older, newly sober or an old- timer, from La Jolla or a surrounding area, and regardless of your Anonymous affiliation (A.A./Alanon/O.A., etc.) - you are welcome!

A couple of points in need of mentioning are:

(1) In the context of this group and as organizer of activities proposed to its members, the leader does not take any personal or professional responsibility for the well-being of those who freely chose to participate. It is up to each individual to assess for themselves the appropriateness of each activity for their fitness level and health status. And, of course, it is always advisable to see a physician prior to increasing activity level. Those who participate in this group and its activities must recognize that with any physical activity comes some risk of injury (cardiovascular/ orthopedic). Members must be advised that they participate at their own risk and by joining agree to assume that risk and take full responsibility for their own well-being.

(2) It is highly advisable that members join under an alias or nickname in order to protect their anonymity.

Let's get moving!!!
