Thanks to everyone who helped with this event! For me, the day was both great and disappointing.

Great in that we flew more kids, and were able to fly our 1000th and 1001st Young Eagles, with Steve Brousseau in the Bell 47.

Disappointing in that we were not able to give the same two brothers a fixed wing experience with Ed Murphy, who's efforts are primarily responsible for this success!

I'm hoping that Mother Nature cooperates with us next year when we resume!

Thanks again to everyone, and watch the newsletter for the story!

As one who can't be there at 7 AM, I finally found out how to be at the pilot briefing anyway. Unfortunately as we know, the event was effectively blown away even though it was otherwise perfect VFR. Perhaps more significantly, the turnout was low. Have these events been done Sunday morning before? It would seem that is a conflict for many. Although Saturdays have a sports conflict, might that be better?

Hi Mark! Thanks for coming out to fly! It was really too bad the winds were gusting up to 27 (above our FPA YE minimums of G20). I would have to look, but I think we most often do Saturdays. An occasional Sunday moves it around a bit to allow people who regularly do Saturdays to attend. I am not sure the exact reason for the low turn out, although our rain dates are almost always low turn out days. It might have also to due with the cold windy day or any number of other reasons. I expect Saturdays to still be our normal day going forward, hopefully that will continue to bring in lots of youngsters. Next time I hope to put you to work flying a bunch of kids in your neat Zenith!
