Difficulty rating: 2-3 out of 5 - nice walk with some small hills. variance depends on distance (4 or 8 miles) Was the gobbler too good to you this year? Too much good food? Is it in your refrigerator now, calling you? Let's get back on track and walk some of that off! We have a long way to go before the end of the year, it's too early to give up on our weight! This is a beautiful walk along the Bull Run stream, with just the right amount of hills and views. The air will be nice and crisp and we will get to hike with our friends, what could be better than that? We'll walk from the Hemlock Overlook park to Fountainhead Regional Park and back. This should be a distance of about 8 miles total. If we take two cars, then we can drop one off at the end point and some of us can take that back, making it a 4-mile trip. Otherwise, you can go however far you want to and then turn back, it's a single trail and easy to follow. I haven't done this section yet, so it will be a bit of an experiment for me, and right now I can't confirm the distances. Those who want can meet at Starbuck's at 10am. People meeting at Hemlock can meet in front of the visitor center at 11am, but note in your RSVP if that's where you're meeting.
Pack a lunch and we can eat at Fountainhead. Links
google map of Hemlock and Fountainhead (the trail goes along the stream, and for some reason it shows the Bull Run Marina right next to Hemlock). My cell is
