Forum Discussion between NAU SSA and Vintage Christian Fellowship

Topic: Is Goodness Without God Good Enough.

The Northern Arizona University Secular Student Alliance is 'discussing' morality with The Vintage Christian Fellowship. It's going to be a moderated forum.

Green Scene Café is located in the Health and Learning Center - at the top of the escalator, the discussion area tends to be in the back - furthest from the counter.

There will be audience participation so come support our secular students and join in on the discussion!

It was interesting. I found the topic to be wide in scope, but I also sensed that both groups were speaking past each other. One was dealing with whether moral truths existed (meta-ethics) and the other group fell into how we come to know our ethic (epistemic). Also, when dealing with a moral/ethical "ought", one cannot derive that from a descriptive "is", but must appeal to a more fundamental criteria (utilitarianism, virtue ethics, consequentialism, deontology, etc.). I enjoyed that both sides actually were civil in the discussion and all in all it was an enlightening dialogue. :)
