Grand Canyon Day Hike

We'll select a trail depending upon who is coming and what the trail conditions are like, but I'm thinking we'll do Hermit, South Kaibab, or Grandview day sections. We'll spend a few hours in the canyon, experiencing it in winter - something most visitors never do. As we go down it will get warmer. We'll eat lunch on the trail and if we like, we can eat dinner at one of the restaurants in the park, or return to Flag for that.

Well finally a Freethinkers event I wouldn't have to commute 1.5 hrs to join! Alas, I will be out of town (both the first attempt, and again on the 28th). I'd be happy to host/join you all again in the future! PS. We didn't get more than a dusting when Flag got dumped on last week, so the trails are fairly clear out here!

This is going to be a day hike - an _all_ day hike. It takes 90 minutes to get there, 90 to get back, and the hike itself will be 5 hours, plus we'll probably want to eat dinner up there afterwards. BUT I am going to postpone it due to some unexpected travel on my part.

I'll have to bail on an_all_day hike then Dan. I am neither physically nor mentally prepared for the time involved. Some other time I hope.

Chris, that's cool - although, you don't have to do the "entire thing" whatever that turns out to be. Note that we are not backpacking, overnighting, or going to the river on this one. Just a little jaunt into the canyon, weather permitting.
