Week of Action - Wood for Warmth

Perhaps not so coincidentally, in a wonderful juxtaposition to the National Day of Prayer, the Foundation Beyond Belief is organizing a nation-wide Week of Action http://weekofaction.org/. They are asking groups like ours to plan service events during that week.

Wood for Warmth is a program that provides work to those who need extra help keeping their homes warm in the hard Flagstaff winters – at least those that have the ability to burn wood to do it.

We are meeting at the Odd Fellows (no kidding) meeting house on Arrowhead at 10 and working to lunch. We want at least 15 folks but we can do a lot more with more! We are going to be splitting and stacking wood. You don’t need to be a lumberjack or even know the first thing about wielding an ax. They have splitters and will be operating them mostly for us. We just have to move some rather easy to manage pieces and stack them.

Bring work gloves if you have them, and wear close toed shoes.

Please come help and have fun doing it!

Hey guys, consider me tentative for this one. If I can get the day off I'll be there for sure.

Be careful where you get the wood, the Forest Service sprays fallen timber with fire retardant to help prevent the spread of forest fires.
