Is there an official full-length video anywhere? I checked UrtheCast (sp?) on YouTube and only found two-minute trailers.

I can NOT stop talking about this very special day to me. My friend Rosalynn and I took part in this absolutely AMAZING event, which turned out to be very successful! Kudos to our dance instructor extraordinaire Jackie and Ljuba for making us turn-out the best performance we were able to pull off!

    Until the next FLASH MOB...

Link to the Social Media Flash Mob New York video: http://www.urthecast.com/urthec... and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?fe... They made it short, only a little over 2 minutes, even though the whole routine was 10 minutes long. Was hoping I would see myself briefly in the video but unfortunately for me I don't. Bummer. Maybe next time.

Ok, I uploaded the video again and didn't let YouTube apply the image stabilization. I was surprised watching it again how shaky it came out, especially the 1st 2 minutes, so not sure if this one looks that much better, it's shakier but the other one is a little distorted, a bit blurry and wobbly. So I'll leave both up and let you decide which of the two look better or worst. Hopefully no one will get motion sickness watching it. lol Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

    1 · July 3, 2012

  • Sonia

this time won't let YouTube try to take the little shakiness off with their stabilization software, it just makes it look worst. Since uploading it again will take several hours, here's the link to this one so you can view it tonight, by tomorrow it'll be replaced with a better copy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Ok, I uploaded the 2nd video, it actually finished uploading a couple of hours ago but I just got a chance to view it and just noticed that YouTube messed it up. When the upload was finished YouTube had a message saying they notice my video is a little shaky and asked if I wanted it fixed, so I clicked yes hoping it will remove some of the shakiness but it came out pretty bad, I can see a lot of blurring and it even slow it down a bit, so I'm going to upload it again and

Linda, just try later. I've had trouble with uploads/downloads all day. Wonder if it's a cosmic thing? LOL. If you continue to have problems, email me by going to my member page -- send your phone # and I'll see if I can walk you through it.

Sonia: the first on was fantastic. I'll have time to look at the other ones later. Such dedication! I'd be drop-kicking something by now, LOL.

    July 2, 2012

  • Sonia

I'll post the link to my 2nd video here as soon as it's uploaded. Susan already shared the link, above here in the comment section, to the 1st video. The 2nd video came out shaky. It was windy and I didn't keep the camera steady enough while holding it with one hand and walking around, hadn't used it in a while and forgotten how shaky the video it records can be if not kept as steady as possible. I will have a couple of additional, shorter videos but these 1st two will be the best ones.

Last night I had trouble with 2nd video, the audio from one of the clips in it would disappear, tried saving it 5 times and same thing kept happening, so I had to remove the clip and add again and the 6th time I saved it finally worked. But during upload Windows decided to update and restart my computer so the video didn't get upload it last night while I was sleeping like I was hoping. Uploading it now. Since it is also 10 minutes long it will probably take over 4 hours to upload to YouTube.

Considering how many people attended it came together better than I had expected. In the future I would recommend simpler choreography for hundreds of people.

Here's the link to the 1st video I uploaded to my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...
It's the entire 10 minute flash mob dance routine, recorded during rehearsals between 11:30 and 11:40am. Took over 4 1/2 hours to upload last night. I just started uploading the 2nd video, the of the clips I recorded during the flash mob at Pier 84. I'm going to sleep and hopefully when I wake up in about 6 hours the video will have finished uploading.

great experience. so much fun. really enjoyed it but please be prepared for a large crowd next time. its better to be over prepared than under prepared. anyone who confirmed their rsvp should have had a spot guaranteed for them as long as they showed up by 9am when check in was scheduled to end. and a shirt! also maybe have people rsvp with their shirt size to make sure people will get a shirt that fits them well and they would possibly wear again.

GREAT experience. I'm so lucky to have randomly chosen this flash mob to be my first! I had no idea how big it was going to be! I brought a date with me and he had a great time too! The people were friendly and it though rehearsal was long and I was starving, it was a lot of fun and worked out well despite the small space.

al lees: I am so glad you got to participate. Conroe, one of the owners of FMA, worked out a way to have all included. There were no walk-ins...the only people who knew about the reheasals were people who signed up with FMA.

I showed up at 8:50, within the time limits of check-in (8-9), and was told not only that they were at capacity for participants, but that they had been since BEFORE 8:00 that morning. I understand that the organizers didn't anticipate as many people would show up as did; apparently at all their other events only a quarter of RSVPers actually arrive, and they didn't realize that New Yorkers were as enthusiastic as we are. What I DON'T understand is why nobody sent out an email as soon as they ran out of room--or at any point in the day! I'm sure people continued to show up all morning, with no indication that they wouldn't be able to participate. The organizers could have saved a lot of people the trip and at least a little bit of the disappointment felt at being excluded. In addition, it's strange to me that nobody took down the participants' names or gave them shirts at the Friday rehearsal. People who took the time to show up on Friday should have had a place held for them.
