A flash mob is a planned public performance, usually a dance or song, that 'seems' to appear out of nowhere. But in reality, participants are organized via mass communications to come together at a specified place and time, mingle amongst the general public, then join in when the performance begins.

It usually begins with just one, two, or a handful of people, but quickly grows to dozens of participants. If the performance is a well-known one (like the Cha Cha Slide or a holiday song), the general public will often join right in! When the performance is over, mob participants quickly disperse and return to mingling amongst the crowd, just like nothing ever happened.

Flash mobs surprise and entertain mall shoppers, restaurant patrons, people waiting in lines, and even unsuspecting office workers.

Flash mobs are great family fun. Anyone, of any age, of any physical or mental ability can participate. No singing or dancing ability or other special talents are necessary. The only requirements are to learn the routine, show up, and most importantly HAVE FUN!
