Moving a drupal site

Hello there,

Some of you know that I am trying to move a site (www.metrus.com) to drupal. I was wondering what the best way to make the move will be.

Currently I am building it locally, but how can I easily move it to production? With Wordpress all I do is a mysqldump, and then I edit the paths (from localhost to whatever domain) and run the mysqldump in the production db and I all ready to go.

Is it also that simple with Drupal?

I have to do something like this also.
I haven't done it yet, but I found these insights/instructions on backing up a drupal site helpful:

I think you will then also have to edit the $base_url in settings.php and do:
Administer > Site Configuration > Performance > (button to clear data caches)

I ended up installing drupal in its own directory on the site I am working on. I can do everything there and when I am ready to launch the site, I will move drupal to the root and I hope that will do the trick. It will be an interesting exercise.

thanks for the reply!
