Finally a submarine movie. Haven't seen one in quite awhile. This one stars Ed Harris a favorite of mine. Plot> Ed Harris plays the captain of a Cold War Soviet missile submarine who has recently been suffering from seizures that alter his perception of reality. Forced to leave his wife and daughter, he is rushed into a classified mission, where he is haunted by his past and challenged by a rogue KGB group (led by David Duchovny) bent on seizing control of the ship's nuclear missile. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Harris discovers he has been chosen for this mission in the belief he would fail.

After the movie we'll go nearby for a snack and a chat. Hope you'll join us.---Lee

I love Submarine films with the up bubble and down scope and fish is away, can't beat it.

I liked the movie more than I thought I would. It was based on a true story which always makes it more interesting. I thought the plot made its point and then wrapped it up without dragging it out. The lack of Russian accents pleasantly suprised me and made me realize we are more alike than different when trying to avoid nuclear war. The renegade KGB reminded me of present day terrorists who are very much still around! Good film, very good acting. Good choice, Lee.

Another example of a movie I'd skip if not for Lee. I haven't been disappointed yet. See you Sat.

After reading Newsday's review of Phantom, I have to say, Lee has a real challenge here. :)

Strong cast, and suspenseful! Claustrophobic atmosphere - inside a real Soviet sub.

I guess Newsday messed up with the reviews this time and I am glad to see everyone liked this movie. I was so exhausted from the 6 mile walk that I did today so I probably saw 2 minutes of the movie. I was hoping I didn't fall asleep but I had the best time with the group going to the movies and going to Panera Bread. I love being with the group before and after the movie and it was a lot of fun. I learned a new word today from Andrea. Anyway, it was a good pick of a movie by Lee of course according to the group and I believe it. I also cannot believe we were the only ones in the theater. Lee, it is great that you got to see one of your favorite type of movie, a submarine movie. It was great seeing everyone.

Me too! I enjoyed the Oscars more this year because I saw so many of the films with the movie group. I'm about to read Life of Pi to get a little deeper into it.
