The Wolf of Wall Street

This movie has received good reviews although it is quite long at over two and a half hours. It's a Martin Scorsese film staring Leonardo Di Caprio.

Synopsis>Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government.

After the movie we'll cross the road for a snack and a chat. Hope you'll join us.---Lee

From what I've read, this movie is fairly accurate, as exaggerated as it seems. Apparently they changed the names of the real people for the movie except for Jordan Belfort and Mark Hanna. Also, the announcer from New Zealand introducing Jordan Belfort at the end was the real Jordan Belfort (no wonder he was so enthusiastic).

Thank you for all of that information. I didn't know that the announcer was the real Jordan Belfort.

Thanks for the info, Brian. On thinking about this movie and Jordan Belfort, I'd say he has a personality disorder, at the very least. And the fact that he wanted to appear in a movie that depicts him as such a money hungry, social deviant, who was happy to steal people's money, taking advantage of other's for his own gain. Well, you have to wonder.

Lack of character development, gratuitous profanity and nudity, and excessive length added up to make this an unsatisfying movie experience.

I did like the movie, I thought the acting was great. I guess in order to work on Wall Street, it is required to have a "potty mouth" and enjoy a decadent lifestyle?? Enjoyed Panera especially since I was starving after 3 hours. It's always good to spend time with everyone.

After that..who wouldn't want a name change? Soddom and Gomorrah had not much on Wall Street.

This movie was a fast paced film with wonderful acting by Leonardo
and had plenty of drugs, sex and cursing. All of these seemed to be necessary for this story. It came across as very real and kept my interest for the whole time.
Panera was alot of fun as usual except we missed Mr. Lee.

Panera Bread is never the same without Mr. Lee.

I didn't see the film not because it was three hours long, but I heard that they used the "F word" 506 times in the film, and I know it would have bothered me (not that I've never used a curse word before, but gratuitous use of the word is a bit much for me)..... Also all the drugs (and sex :)) Really, even if the acting is good, why support the film? Hopefully I'll want to see the next film offered up.... Have a great week, everyone!

Well acted with a story that's presumed to be true but I'm sure greatly exaggerated.

Although it was 3 hours long, used the "F" word way more than necessary, and was quite graphic sexually and with the use of drugs, I enjoyed the movie. It held my interest throughout, I found many parts amusing, and thought the acting was very well done, Leonardo DeCaprio is a great actor.

Carol, I am sorry you weren't feeling well and I hope you feel better soon. I think there was some kind of stomach bug or virus going around. See you soon

I cannot believe my husband Steve took the words right out of my mouth about the movie. I felt the acting was very good and there were a few chuckles here and there but it was a little long and there was a lot of cursing in it. The best part of tonight was being with everyone at the movies and going to Panera Bread. Every week I love being with the group and it really doesn't matter what movie Lee puts up because I am very venturous with the movies out there and I am game for everything, even if I fall asleep in some parts. My most enjoyable time is being with people and getting out of the house. Another good choice of a movie, Lee.

The temperature is still below freezing not going up. I can't come and risk the 45 minute drive.

I am glad that my ankle/foot injury has not stopped me from coming to the movies. I would not want to miss the movies. I am hoping that 2014 will be a better year without injuries and unfortunate deaths that happened in 2013. See you at the movies!!!!
