In-the-Field Mini Workshop

Improve your Composition for

more Creative Photos

In-the-Field Mini Workshops are a great way to extend your photographic skill sets.  The workshops are all held on location and are limited in size to just 10 students.  Instruction is provided by FCCP faculty and usually an assistant instructor.  The 5 to 1 student/instructor ratio means there will be lots of learning going on, but there'll be plenty of laughs as well.

Composition is the most challenging aspect of photography.  The instructor will guide you through 10 easy steps to change your photos from boring to dynamic.  Students are given challenges each hour and the instructor and assitant will provide feedback on the students work.  After 3 hours the students will have had an opportunity to learn and practice 10 different compositional techniques for creating stunning imagery.

The mini workshops starts with a short orientation and then proceeds to the starting location.  The next 3 to 4 hours are spent learning basic guides and aids to better composition.  During this time the group will move around to different locations to insure that the students learn under different light conditions and environments.

Brief critiques in-the-field will be given by the instructor or assistant.  However, after the event a special gallery will be setup on the FCCP site for the students to upload their images (limit of 10) to receive a more extensive critique from the instructor.  Also, following the workshop students will be sent via email a list of followup material that will aid the student that wants to advance further with their composition education.  Twice a year an advanced workshop will be given in composition for the dedicated student.
