*** CANCELED *** Full Moon rising to the right of the Sunshine Skyway Spans

The full moon will rise tonight about 7:39 PM between (or slightly to the left of) the two large spans of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.  This event doesn't happen very often, sometimes not even every year.  The sunsets at 8:03 so this offers one of the very best opportunities to photograph the rising moon and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

After the event, an optional visit to Island Grill & Raw Bar on Terra Verde is also happening. This will give members an opportunity to chimp and view other's images of this photo op.

I can't be extremely accurate in predicting the best spot to shot the moonrise.  I may be off as much as 50 yards so be prepared to move your camera/tripod in a hurry.  We'll have about 20 minutes to capture the best reflections etc, so come prepared with fresh batteries and cards and shoot LOTS of images.

The meetup starts at 7:00 PM so that I can give instruction on how to set your cameras for best White Balance, Exposure Mode, ISO, Drive Setting, Auto Focus Setting etc.  Arrive late and I'll do my best to bring you up to speed, but no promises.  You will need a tripod to best capture this scene.  Lenses in the 100mm to 300mm will offer the best view for close-ups of the bridge and a moderate wide angle will capture more of the bay and bridge.

Due to severe weather in and around FT. De Soto the Full Moon Rise PhotoWalk is CANCELLED. Hillsborough County is under a severe storm warning and there are many storms in the area. Believe me, East Beach at Ft. De Soto is not the place to be in a storm. There is no protection and storms can be on all sides of you. We'll have more chances to photograph the moon. It's not worth the risk.

We will still be doing the Moon Set tomorrow morning in Clearwater, weather permitting.

Just an FYI folks, this is a very weather dependent event. If rain or lightning threatens around the start time, this event will be cancelled. If we do cancel the event, we'll post a notice in the comments, send an email to all registered members and add the CANCELLATION to the name of the event. The decision to cancel the event will be made no later than 6 PM and not before 5 PM. If you have questions about this event or the cancellation, please call the Center at[masked]

Not real familiar with the park. Where does the Meetup meet at?

Turn left when the road ends (at the flag pole, park HQ) and drive just a few hundred yards and park at the South end of the East Beach parking lot. Call Jeff at[masked] if lost, running late or separated from the group.
