Cypress Point (known as Beer Can Beach to the locals) is a great place to practice many types of flight shots. The planes landing at Tampa International make an easy target. But the beach is on Tampa Bay and offers a great chance to shoot many different birds, including Spoonbills, shore birds, waders of all types and much more. If we're really lucky, we'll be treated t a great sunset as well.
Every other Thursday night we'll meet up to practice Bird in Flight (BIF) photography. You can also practice other forms of photography, such as Dragon Fly in Flight (DIFF), or Squirrel in Flight (SIF). Just kidding, you're welcome to shoot what you want, and instruction will be give when requested.
This is an opportunity to practice flight shots with the "big silver birds" ie airplanes. There is a nearby beach (formerly known as Beer Can Beach) with shore birds, waders, gulls and the occasional spoonbill, Osprey and Bald Eagle. This are can also provide very stunning shots, if the setting sun cooperates.
The PhotoWalks will be scheduled in various parks around the Tampa Bay area that are conducive to shooting flight shots and other photography. The times will vary according to the time the sun sets and Daylight Savings Time, etc. If you know a great location to hold these PhotoWalks, please leave a comment with the suggested location.
