Time is running out to get our paid memberships up to a level that will support FCCP in our efforts to convince county officials of our plans merits. We got some great publicity from the article in today's St. Petersburg Times. Please send the link to your friends, relatives and co-workers. We need everyone's support and now is the time to voice your support.
FCCP Meetup Members have just 3 more weeks to join at the Friend Level and get a $25 discount off the annual rate or save $2 a month off the monthly subscription rate. The Friend Level has many great benefits, including reciprocal membership at many local museums. This alone could save you hundreds of dollars in admission fees. We also have membership levels starting at just $25.
I'm also very pleased to announce that we have our first Lifetime Member (a one time $1,000 membership fee), Frank Planes. Frank is a long time member of the group and is legally blind. Frank has developed his own method of teaching photography to blind people and wants to share his knowledge and techniques with others. But Frank and his students need a classroom and other support. We can do it, but we need your support.
If you haven't seen the purposed site, please watch the calendar for more PhotoWalks in the coming weeks that will feature a tour of the campus and also the other institutions at the Cultural Park, Heritage Village, Florida Extension Service and the Florida Botanical Gardens. This is a great way to learn about our proposed activities, classes, workshops and seminars.
Our Director of Adult Education has been hard at work recruiting a faculty and currently we have close to 40 instructors. Their backgrounds range from working professionals in all photographic fields, retired teachers and professors, business leaders and lifelong hobbyists. The class listing is currently over 100 offerings and growing. Computer classes for all ages on either Macs or PCs, printing classes, framing and matting classes and photography classes at all levels are just a few of the classes to be offered.
The Director of Children's Education is working hard on planning and preparing our ten week children's summer program starting in 2012. The program will attract over 100 children each week, ages 8 to 18. The younger children will be offered 4 modules a day in various art disciplines. The teens will take 4 photographic modules that will use concentrate on photography and utilize the darkroom and computers. The demand is expected to grow to 250 children by the summer of 2013 and scholarships will be available for challenged families.
We are also in the early planning stages of offering returning disabled veterans photography classes and workshops. There is a great demand for this type of training and education, and currently there is no organization helping our returning heroes in these areas.
But we need your help and support to make these programs and activites a reality. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the photographers and art supporters of Pinellas County to create a photography center. We can rent the space for just $2.50 a square foot or $75,000 a year or The type of programs I've outlined above can only happen on a campus this size. We need the help of just 480 members to make this happen.
If 480 members subscribe at the $13 a month Friend Level Subscription we'll have the support to convince county officials of the merits of our proposal. Please help make the FCCP Campus at Pinewood Cultural Park a reality and an institution for many generations to come. Forward this email to everyone in your contact list and you'll make a difference. Become a Friend of our FCCP Facebook Page and you'll make a difference. But most importantly become a paid member of FCCP and make a difference for future generations.
