Seasons Greetings,

FCCP is now starting its fourth year on, having started the website on December 25, 2008.  The organization was originally founded in January 2003 at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and in three years grew to about 100 members.  A year ago we had about 600 members and had a total of 600 events for members.  That was up from 300 members and 275 events at the end of 2009. As I write this today we have over 1000 members and have had almost 1200 events in the last three years.

As you can see, our growth has been tremendous and 2012 has many opportunities for our members.  I'm sad to say that we have not been successful in our bid to lease the former Gulf Coast Museum of Art site at Pinewood Cultural Park in Largo.  However, I'm very pleased to announce that starting in January we'll be offering many new classes and meetings at a new location in Clearwater, the Tampa Bay Computer Society (TBCS).  TBCS is allowing us to share their space and offer many of our events will be at their location in Clearwater.  There will be more details on the changes in the next few days.

I'm also pleased to announce the return of the FCCP Newsletter.  We did a weekly newsletter back in 2009, but found that it consumed too much time for the small membership at that time.  However, with over 1000 members it is time to create a new publication, and we have.  Next week every member will receive, via email, the new FCCP Monthly Newsletter.

The newsletter will have articles our activities, featured events, money saving offers, tutorials and feature the photographs of a selected member every month.  Watch for newsletter in your email around the first.  There will also be a contest in every issue, with a prize for the winning member.  Prizes will range from free classes, workshops, canvas prints and many other awards.  Details and rules will be in the first issue, so be sure and read the newsletter and get entered for one of the great prizes.

FCCP is also starting back up the Photo of the Month Challenge.  The POM is being sponsored by Cafe Impressions Gallery and will be providing the grand prize each month.  The challenge will start January 1 and run through the last day of the month.  Look for more details in the monthly FCCP Newsletter please take a moment and visit Cafe Impressions Galleries site.

FCCP is proud to announce the opening of our FCCP Store on CafePress.  The store offers many great clothing items with the FCCP logo, gifts and more.  It also includes our "Famous Photographer" quote store that features coffee mugs and T-shirts with quotes, photos and artwork.  Be sure to check it out.  Did I mention that we're having a one day grand opening special that includes 30% of T-shirts and 25% of your entire order.  Just our way of saying thanks for visiting the new store.  You can receive your 25% discount by entering the code SKY25 at checkout.

FCCP, in conjunction with Global Photography Tours is offering a number PhotoTours to destinations all around the globe.  I'm leading four of these tours, Vietnam, Galapagos Islands, Kenya and South Africa.  Global Photogarphy Tours is owned by FCCP member Steve Hodal and is offering some really great rates on all of his tours.  Check out the site and  great rates on all of the 2012 tours.

FCCP is also sponsoring several PhotoTours for 2012.  The first is the Great Owl Expedition in February.  If you have ever wanted to photograph Great Grey Owls, Snowy Owls, Northern Hawk Owls, Boreal Owls and many more northern species, this is your chance.  An opportunity like this may not happen again until 2019, so don't miss out on this great tour.

FCCP is also doing our annual PhotoTours to Yellowstone National Park.  We are offering two tours in September.  The first tour is a full week in Yellowstone and the second is split between Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.  More details to come, but watch for a great discount in our first newsletter.

Lastly, FCCP is sponsoring an international photo competition with some great prizes.  This will be formally announced in the FCCP January Newsletter and includes cash prizes, free memberships, a free PhotoTour.

Thanks for reading and be sure to checkout the FCCP Store and all the great gear.  Happy New Year and I look forward to shooting with you soon.
