Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) Annual Symposium

Sep 28

Third Annual Florida Outdoor Recreation Summit on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 -29, 2013 at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Sanford, Florida. The summit begins on Saturday, September 28 at 1:30 pm and will conclude on Sunday, September 29 at 12:00 pm.

This year’s program “Building Stronger Outdoor Recreational Organizations” will follow a workshop format with concurrent sessions and plenty of time for personal interactions. A sample of presentation topics include: Effectively Working with Land Managers; Building Partnerships; Successfully Advocating Your Club/Organization; Liability Management; Recruitment and Retention of Volunteers; Funding for Your Organization. In addition there will be presentations on the business side of outdoor recreation, resource conservation and the importance of outdoor recreation and wellness. The complete agenda is nearly finalized and will be out very shortly.

We are pleased to announce that once again, prior to the beginning of the Florida Outdoor Recreation Summit, FLORC will be hosting the annual Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) Symposium along with the National Forests in Florida and the Florida Trail Association. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the FNST. The symposium is scheduled for Saturday, September 28 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Anyone with a vested interest in outdoor recreation in Florida, including clubs and organizations, agency providers, outfitters or businesses, will want to be part of this very informative weekend. The Forum on Outdoor Recreation is a unique opportunity to bring all the players together who help make outdoor recreation a successful $38.6 Billion program in Florida. This is the event to share ideas and to have an active voice in the future of outdoor recreation in Florida.

Registration for the 2013 Florida Outdoor Recreation Summit and the 2013 FNST Symposium is available through the FLORC website: If you have any question please do not hesitate to give John Waldron, Executive Director, FLORC, a call at 850.556.7315 or e-mail me at
