Central Florida Chapter General Meeting

Meet at Wekiwa Springs State Park Youth Camp and get to know your fellow FTA members, with guests always welcome (tell the ranger at the entrance gate you are attending the Florida Trail meeting; admission is free). This month's program: Our speaker will be Tom Shupe of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. Tom is a District Biologist for the East Central Florida area and is responsible for the staff and activities of 12 Wildlife Management Areas and one Wildlife and Environmental Area. He will share information about a very timely topic --- the black bear. The meeting will begin with a short social period at 6:30, followed by short announcements at 7pm.

Beverages or snack foods are appreciated. Don't forget to bring your aluminum cans for recycling and a flashlight for finding your car after dark!

As always, the public is invited.

Very informative presentation from Tom Shupe: bears should not keep the responsible outdoorsman from excellent adventures, maybe with occasional sightings: saw my first Florida Black bear at Grassy Pond on the FT

Sadly, I won't be able to make the meeting in time as an appointment took far longer than expected. Hope everyone else enjoys the presentation.

Considering that the newscasts are having more and more stories about the bears just walking up and making themselves at home, this seemed like a good time to hear more about bears from a bear specialist.
Spread the word --- remember, everyone is invited!

Not the way I wanted to post it, but Google sometimes makes choices for you. Hope to make the next meeting.
